Your split air conditioner runs off an IntesisHome Wi-Fi module and works fine through the app. It just does not count anywhere else: not on your dashboard, not in your voice commands, and not in the automation that manages the rest of your climate. Home Assistant has an IntesisHome integration, and it gives you a climate entity per indoor unit that handles cooling, heating, fan-only mode and fan speed.

Connecting it

  1. Add the IntesisHome integration and sign in with your IntesisHome account.
  2. Each indoor unit appears as a device with a climate entity.

Bear in mind that this connection runs through the Intesis cloud. Your commands arrive with a few seconds of delay, and if that cloud goes down, nothing works at all.

Clean names and the right area

The integration inherits the names from the app, and those are rarely usable: you often end up with something like climate.unit_2. Rename the entity after the room, so climate.bedroom_ac. More important still is the step most people skip: assign the device to the correct area.

Do that, and three things happen at once:

  • a room card on your dashboard counts the air conditioner towards that room;
  • your voice assistant understands "set the bedroom air conditioning to 20 degrees";
  • per-area automations pick the unit up without you listing it.

Air conditioning next to heating

If the same room also has a radiator valve, those two will start working against each other the moment you automate both. The air conditioner cools, the radiator heats against it, and the only place you notice is your energy bill. Two rules keep them apart:

  • Turn the radiator off as soon as the air conditioner starts cooling.
  • Do not let the air conditioner heat in winter while the boiler is already doing it. A condition on the season or the outside temperature is enough.
- alias: Radiator uit als airco koelt
  triggers:
    - trigger: state
      entity_id: climate.slaapkamer_airco
      to: cool
  actions:
    - action: climate.set_hvac_mode
      target:
        entity_id: climate.slaapkamer
      data:
        hvac_mode: 'off'

Only expose the room to voice

Expose one climate entity per room to Assist and hide the individual parts. Otherwise your assistant has to choose between the air conditioner and the radiator, and "how warm is it in the bedroom?" comes back with a reading from whichever one it picked.

Frequently asked questions

Does IntesisHome work without internet? No. The integration runs through the Intesis cloud, so if your internet drops, you are back to the remote control.

Can I have it cool automatically when it gets warm? Yes. Trigger on the room's indoor temperature and set the unit to cool with a fixed setpoint. Switch it off again as soon as a window opens or nobody is home, because cooling an open window is the most expensive automation you will ever build.

How do I combine this with my heating? Use the same presence rules you use for your radiators. Restoring heating after you get home covers how to switch zones off and back on cleanly.
